Flying Star Cafe Mural ~ Edible Artwork Along the Rio Grande

There’s a certain amount of envy on my part when Evangeline emails food photos. This time she had mercy on me and just sent a picture of the mural on the wall of the Flying Star Cafe.

The Flying Star is a modern day watering hole at the crossroads serving up comfort food deluxe. It’s signature homestyle Mac and Cheese is made with curly-q noodles.

The best part, famous Mac and Cheese aside, is the mural. The Sandoval Community Arts, a nonprofit local arts organization, involved both community artists and students who painted the timeline of Bernalillo’s past.

They do it right–community involvment, fair trade and local organics. Oh, and look: online job info.

As they say at the Flying Star Cafe, life is what you bake of it.

Photos by Evangeline Chavez. Envy by Kd Rivera.
