Sesame Tofu Marinade for a Community Fundraiser

Community Fundraiser Sesame Marinade

I’m a big believer in giving back to my community. This summer, it meant showing up for potluck fundraisers for the local food bank with bus tubs full of golden baked marinated tofu. This marinade is so addictive, it will please even the most steadfast carnivore.

Here’s two versions of the marinade–one for a crowd and one for smaller occasions.

Sesame Tofu Marinade for a Fundraiser

6 3/4 c. sesame oil
1 1/4 c. minced garlic
2 1/4 c. minced fresh ginger
1 c 2 Tbl Gulden’s Mustard
2/3 c. medium chili powder
2/3 c. crushed red pepper
4 1/2c. brown rice vinegar
5 c. shoyu
9 c. honey


Makes 2 gallons.

Cut firm tofu into sticks. Line baking pan with parchment paper and lay out one layer of tofu. Pour marinade over tofu, covering it halfway.

Bake at 350 until golden, turning every 10 minutes or so. Let cool in marinade and refrigerate.

Sesame Tofu Marinade for the rest of us

1/2 c. sesame oil
3 TBL  minced garlic
1/2 c. minced fresh ginger
1/4 c Gulden’s Mustard
1 TBL medium chili powder
1 TBL crushed red pepper
1 c. brown rice vinegar
1.25 c. shoyu (soy sauce)

Mix. Enjoy.
