Fall in Colorado ~ Yellow Aspen on the High Road to Cripple Creek

Dozens of cars packed the few available spots on the narrow, twisty road to Cripple Creek yesterday. Dodging the suddenly swerving SUVs  on Highway 67 made getting good shot even more of an challenge on the last good viewing weekend of the season.

Shooting the fall colors on the Front Range is tougher than it was in Northern New Mexico. Clumped between pine trees and mining debris, it’s impossible to get a closeup of the Aspen covered hillsides without the high-tech gear of the better equipped, longer-lensed seasonal photographers. Most of the shots I see online are so much better than mine. Maybe next year…
