Washington Post Cafe, Fremont District, Seattle

The Washington Post Cafe in Seattle’s Fremont District (AKA the Self-Sytled Center of the Universe) was one of my first cooking jobs in Seattle. It’s long gone now. The all-local menu was changed daily and required making something out of what ever was left from the night before or what was affordable at the market.

The menus were beautifully hand drawn, lettered and run off on an old copier. I’ve kept this one to remind me how to be creative, flexible and innovative. And cheap.
